Biography
Lynda’s work has been showcased at many of Boston’s major venues such as Scullers Jazz Club, North Shore Music Theater, Club Café, Ryles Jazz Club, and the Lyric Stage. She grew up listening to an eclectic assortment of music, virtually anything she could get her hands, or ears, on and it shows in her varied selection of material and her delivery of a song. In any given minute you might hear a hint of jazz, pop, rock, R&B, or show tune. Lynda began her professional career in music working as lead vocalist in various Top-40 bands throughout the Northeast and in Original Rock bands locally in the Boston area. In keeping with her eclectic musical nature she spent a few years performing exclusively in musical theater but returned to performing in clubs and enjoys redefining the ever growing Great American Songbook. “I’m drawn to a great lyric”
Her latest show, More Today Than Yesterday (affectionately referred to as When Did the Music of my Youth Show Up on the OLDIES Stations!?!) is chock full of songs we all remember from the 60's and 70's era. In August 2010 the show debuted in NH at the WinniPlayhouse and once again in NYC in October at Don't Tell Mama with the amazing Barry Levitt on piano.
Lynda recently appeared for the first time at the Iguana VIP lounge in the MAC Award winning series 'Wednesday Night at The Iguana' (Hosted by Dana Lorge & Richard Skipper) and will be back in the lineup soon. She can be found hosting an Open Mic event in Boston venues as well as for the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA). Her performance in the Boston Cabaret Songwriters Showcase 2009 was noted as one of the evening’s standouts in Cabaret Scenes (6/2009). She debuted her show 'This Eager Heart of Mine' in New York City at Don't Tell Mama as well as in Massachusetts too at Steps-Off-Broadway Theater and appeared live on WERS 88.9 Standing Room Only, singing song selections from the show. The Summer of 2009 also found Lynda adding her acting & improv skills on the Cape Cod Murder Mystery Train ride show 'High School Reunion' produced by Cape Cod Cabaret.
The Boston Songwriters Showcase 2008 showcased Lynda performing songs in the role of Tonya Harding from Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera (by Michael Teoli and Elizabeth Searle). As part of the CBS Early Show week long feature ‘Life After the Tabloids’ series that included Tonya Harding, Lynda was heard singing ‘Watch Your Back’ from the rock opera. She also appeared as a featured performer in the 2008 BACA Production ‘Act IV: An Evening of Music & Musings’, at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston.
Her first solo venture into the cabaret waters emerged as 'All About Love', a show exploring the ups & downs of love through standard and contemporary Broadway show-tunes. She reprised the show as a featured performer at CabaretFest in Provincetown. Lynda followed up her first solo venture with her critically acclaimed show, ONE COOL CAT: The Songs of Sammy Davis, Jr.
In 2006 “March is Cabaret Month” events included Lynda performing in 'Cooking Up a Cabaret' a cabaret show written & directed by NYC Director Bill Castellino. EdgeBoston’s John Amodeo listed Lynda as one of the top 6 performers in his ‘2006 Year in Review’. In addition to performing at Corporate functions, she has lent her talents to "Cabaraid And All That Jazz' at the Lyric Stage in Boston (a hurricane benefit concert featuring Rebecca Parris), as well as 'Beach Blanket Bike Ride' (a benefit concert for Harbor To The Bay Ride) , with Jim Rice as musical director.
